Arsenal are reportedly the favourites to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, with the midfielder expected to leave the Italian side at the end of this season.
According to journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, the Gunners are in the driving seat to sign the Serbian international, with Lazio conceding to the idea that their prized asset will finally depart after years of keeping hold of the midfielder in the blue half of Rome.
Lauded by Lazio’s president Claudio Lotito as ‘the best midfielder in the world’, Milinkovic-Savic could be a genuine contender for such a title based on his overall play and his incredible goalscoring and assisting rate from central midfield.
The 28-year-old hit double digits for both goals and assists last season and Milinkovic-Savic is on course to repeat this feat yet again this campaign for Lazio, with Maurizio Sarri’s side also heavy favourites to finish second in the Serie A standings and to return to the UEFA Champions League.

Indeed, even after such a good year, Milinkovic-Savic’s time at Lazio looks over, and Arsenal are now seemingly the favourites to sign the Serbian international, who could be an outstanding addition to Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of their own Champions League comeback.
Moreover, whilst Milinkovic-Savic is well into his peak and his age doesn’t align with Arsenal’s transfer policy, the instant injection of midfield quality could be what takes the Gunners to a whole new level and might be a factor in the north London side once again challenging for the Premier League title.
Arsenal signing Milinkovic-Savic could be a game-changer

Midfield depth has been a major issue for Arsenal this season, with a lack of injuries to Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey arguably the biggest reason the Gunners have lasted this long at the top of the Premier League standings.
Yet signing Milinkovic-Savic could change everything for the north Londoners, with the Serbian one of the most complete midfielders in world football and comfortably good enough to replace either of Arsenal’s current midfield-three if needed.
