Speaking on the 90Min YouTube channel, Alan Smith has responded when asked who he thinks will be the biggest flop of the Premier League season.

With a number of high-profile transfers going through this summer, sadly, there’s the potential for a few players to flop at their new clubs.

However, after the likes of Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland got off to great starts for Liverpool and Manchester City this weekend, Smith has chosen Richarlison as his flop of the season, stating that Arsenal fans will love this prediction.

What’s been said?

Smith spoke about Richarlison when asked to predict his flop of the season.

“I’m going to say Richarlison, Arsenal fans will love that. He’s clearly a talented lad and he was leading the line for Everton almost single-handedly, but I don’t know. It will be interesting the dynamic between him and his manager, between him and Conte,” Smith said.

Will he even play?

Richarlison certainly has the talent to be a success at Spurs, but the real question is whether or not he will get a game at Tottenham.

The Brazilian is joining a team with arguably the best front three in the Premier League at the moment, and he may find minutes hard to come by.

Indeed, it’s hard to see Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son or Dejan Kulusevski being dropped from Antonio Conte’s best XI anytime soon, and that may mean that Richarlison is stuck on the bench for large periods of this season.

In terms of ability, Richarlison shouldn’t flop, but his hefty price tag alongside Spurs’ current squad composition may mean that he doesn’t quite live up to expectations in north London.

For us, it isn’t a question of whether or not Richarlison will do well at Spurs, it’s a question of how much he’s actually going to play.
