Arsenal slumped to a third straight home defeat on Sunday night as they were beaten 2-1 by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Gunners went into the game having been beaten at the Emirates Stadium by Leicester City and Aston Villa, with Mikel Arteta’s men really struggling at home.

They fell behind against Wolves as Pedro Neto fired the visitors in front, before Gabriel equalised to give Arsenal a rare goal; just their second in their last six league games.

However, Daniel Podence fired the winner for Wolves before half time, and Arsenal couldn’t get back on level terms again in a dismal evening.

Arteta finds himself under increasing pressure right now, and the last thing he needs is a meeting with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur next week – but that’s what he faces.

He may need to make changes for that game, and one player Arsenal fans want to see in action is Ainsley Maitland-Niles – who has started just two league games this season.

Arteta fought to keep the 23-year-old over the summer, convincing him to reject – ironically – Wolves, but he’s barely featuring in the Premier League.

Fans now feel that Arteta is making a mistake by playing Hector Bellerin at right back, urging him to give Maitland-Niles a run in the team – starting with that game against Spurs.

Some think it’s a decision that simply has to be made now, as Bellerin is in poor form, whilst homegrown Maitland-Niles could show some heart in such a huge game.
