Arsenal’s Under-23s ran out 1-0 winners over their West Ham United counterparts in Friday night’s Premier League 2 game at Meadow Park.

Tyreece John-Jules, who scored the winner in the midweek 3-2 friendly win over Al Nasr in Dubai, repeated the feat against the Hammers with the game’s only goal on 42 minutes.

West Ham’s defence gave away possession inside their area and the 18-year-old picked up the ball, turned and found the back of the net with a powerful strike at the near post.

The game also proved a big occasion for 17-year-old goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who kept a clean sheet on his Premier League 2 debut.

One key moment for the teenager was after the break when he bravely raced off his line to dive at the feet of Hammers attacker Nathan Holland, preventing a clear-cut opportunity.

The Arsenal Academy Twitter channel praised Okonkwo for his impressive debut display:

Okonkwo himself responded to the post with two raised-hands-in-celebration emojis:

Some Gunners fans responded to the original post, with several hoping that the England youth international, who is eligible for Nigeria (Footballlive.ng), may go on to represent the Super Eagles in future:
