Arsenal fans will be excited about the arrival of William Saliba this summer, but he is currently at the centre of a spat.
The Gunners signed Saliba from Saint-Etienne last summer, but loaned him back to the French club for the season to continue his development.
Saliba, 19, has played 17 times this season, and will soon head back to Arsenal to try and impress Mikel Arteta ahead of next season.
Right now though, things are turning ugly. Saliba’s loan spell with Saint-Etienne expired yesterday, and no agreement was reached for him to play in the Coupe de France final.
Arteta had admitted he wanted Saliba to play in that game, but Saint-Etienne claim Arsenal tried to impose ‘absolutely unacceptable sports and financial conditions’ on any move to keep him for one more game.
This is all down to a €2.5million (£2million) payment Arsenal must make to Saint-Etienne if Saliba plays one more game for them this season – and seemingly refused to do so.

Arsenal fans are now taking to Twitter to suggest that the Gunners have ruined their chances of signing Saliba’s defensive partner Wesley Fofana, with But Football Club reporting last month that Fofana was an Arsenal target.
Supporters believe that the bridges with Saint-Etienne have been burnt by this argument, and feel that there is now no chance of the 19-year-old defender following Saliba to Arsenal, with Saint-Etienne no doubt angry with the Gunners.
