The Premier League title has long been decided, but the La Liga title race went down to the final day of the season.

Real Madrid knew they needed to beat Villarreal at home to stand a chance of winning the title, and pulled off a stunning late comeback to win 2-1.

It wasn’t enough in the end though, as their city rivals Atletico also came from behind to beat Real Valladolid, with a 2-1 win enough to clinch the title for Diego Simeone’s men.

That means that Lucas Torreira has won the title with Atleti, ahead of his loan move from Arsenal coming to an end this summer.

The Uruguayan hasn’t exactly had the best season, but he ends it as a champion – and, in a way, so does Thomas Partey.

Atleti sold Partey to Arsenal in October, but he had already played a couple of La Liga games, meaning he goes down as a part of Atletico’s title win.

Partey ended up leaving the club and finishing in mid-table with Arsenal, meaning he may well regret not seeing out a title-winning season with Atletico.

Arsenal fans have seen the funny side, taking to Twitter to suggest that Partey is sitting in midtable and saying goodbye to David Luiz instead of celebrating a title.

Others believe that Partey will be jealous seeing his former teammates celebrate, even suggesting it’s ‘kind of sad’ that he missed out with Atletico.
