Arsenal were linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion right back Tariq Lamptey over the summer, and fans now want them to try again.

The Gunners were linked with a whole host of right backs over the summer with Hector Bellerin on his way out.

They ended up signing Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna, and the Japanese international has made a more than decent start to life in the Premier League.

Arsenal did look closer to home though, with Brighton talent Lamptey thought to be a target.

The Athletic reported that Arsenal did want to sign Lamptey but then backed away due to concerns over his height.

Lamptey is quick and exciting going forward, but does only stand at just 5ft 5in tall.

Tomiyasu is bigger, stronger and more adept defensively, which is why Arsenal picked him over Lamptey in the end.
