Liverpool cruised into the Carabao Cup final with a 2-0 second-leg win over Arsenal on Thursday night at The Emirates. Diogo Jota scored both goals, and Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the Liverpool star.
Arsenal and Liverpool came into the clash in North London, after the two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Anfield. The Gunners would have been confident, after securing the draw despite Granit Xhaka’s red.
Alexandre Lacazette saw a free-kick hit the bar, tipped onto the woodwork by Caomihin Kelleher – but it was Jota that opened the scoring. Cutting inside, his shot trickled into the back of the net past Aaron Ramsdale.
In the second half, it was two. A beautifully-pinpoint pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold saw Jota score with aplomb – VAR ruling he was onside after it was originally ruled out. The scoreline remained, winning 2-0.

Thomas Partey added salt to Arsenal’s wounds with a ridiculous tackle on Fabinho – having already been booked. Another red card for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s side were outclassed by Jurgen Klopp’s men.
