Some Arsenal fans on Twitter believe they’ve spotted a transfer sign in regards to Jorginho.
According to Sky Sports earlier this week, Arsenal are interested in signing the Brazil-born midfielder.
And interestingly, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard dropped him from his starting XI for the first time in a Premier League game this season as the Blues drew 3-3 with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The 28-year-old, a £57 million signing by the Londoners in 2018, had started his side’s first two league outings.
Arsenal are heavily linked with Thomas Partey but this speculation about Jorginho – who has 23 caps for Italy, the country he moved to as a teenager – suggests that the Gunners’ hierarchy might be viewing him as a back-up option in the event that they cannot sign the Atletico powerhouse.
And some fans of the North London club reckon there is a correlation between the midfielder being axed yesterday and the speculation regarding a move.
Here’s how they reacted to seeing him dropped from the starting XI:
There’s only nine days left in the window, so Arsenal need to get their skates on.
Would it be the worst thing in the world if Partey and Jorginho both fail to sign? Not really because Granit Xhaka is a man re-born under Mikel Arteta and once the disappointment clears, a lot of supporters might realise the Swiss hasn’t done much wrong to warrant being replaced.
