Arsenal boss Unai Emery has suggested that he tried to sign Liverpool midfielder Fabinho last season.

Arsenal fans have been left furious over Unai Emery’s comments on Liverpool midfielder Fabinho.
Emery dropped the bombshell yesterday that Arsenal wanted to sign Fabinho last season, only for him to end up at Liverpool.
He said to the London Evening Standard: “In France I loved Fabinho a lot. He was in Monaco and I wanted to sign for PSG. When I arrived here, also his name was on the table to achieve to sign him, but he signed for Liverpool.”
With Emery already under pressure at Arsenal, the comments have not gone down well with supporters.
Some Gunners fans are questioning why Emery would make such a statement when he has Lucas Torreira at the club currently.
Torreira joined Arsenal in 2018, but it seems as if he was second choice to Fabinho now.
Emery has already shown reluctance over using Torreira, even though he is highly rated by Arsenal supporters.
And Arsenal fans think that Emery’s latest words could be another knock to Torreira’s confidence.
Arsenal are next in action later this evening when they take on Vitoria, and it remains to be seen whether Torreira will be handed a rare start in the Europa League.
