Theo Walcott’s Arsenal career is showing very little sign of life at the moment.

The 28-year-old was given a rare start on Tuesday as Arsenal edged out West Ham United with a 1-0 win at the Emirates to reach the semi-final of the League Cup.

But the former Southampton youth did very little to justify Arsene Wenger’s decision to start him by posting a very ordinary performance, which included missing a first-half sitter.

With only Joe Hart to beat from 10 yards out, Walcott sent a diving header wide of the mark after a fine ball from Sead Kolasinac.

Walcott cost Arsenal around £9 million in 2006 (according to The Telegraph) but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t fulfilled his potential since joining the Gunners.

There have been plenty of bright moments and 65 Premier League goals in 267 appearances, but he has been nowhere near as consistent or productive as Wenger would have liked and perhaps selling next month is the best option.
