Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the Bayern Munich and Barcelona defenders.
Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti top Arsenal boss Unai Emery’s summer wish-list, according to a report from the Independent, and some Gunners fans took to Twitter in reaction to the shock speculation.
Emery has made a decent start to life in England, and his Arsenal team have every chance of finishing inside the top four this season – something that would surely have been his remit when he took over at the Emirates last summer.
The need for the Spaniard to strengthen at the end of this season is clear to see, however, although it is unclear as to how much money he will actually have to spend.
Differing reports have suggested that Arsenal will have anywhere from a £50-100 million budget.
David Alaba and Samuel Umtiti have emerged as shock targets for the Gunners, and they will obviously not come cheap.
Many Arsenal fans don’t seem convinced by the reports linking their club with a move for the star duo, however.
