Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking Shkodran Mustafi with Liverpool.
The Telegraph has claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing Arsenal central defender Mustafi before the January transfer window closes next week.
The defending Premier League champions are reportedly on the hunt for a new centre-back due to their current injury problems at the back.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term injury problems, with Joel Matip also missing from time to time. Fabinho and even Jordan Henderson have been playing in central defence recently.
The Telegraph has reported Liverpool’s interest in 28-year-old Germany international central defender Mustafi.
“One name which was not so instantly dismissed was Arsenal’s German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, who is out of contract at The Emirates this summer and whose club might release him early,” states the report in The Telegraph. “Mustafi is thought to be in talks with Arsenal to negotiate a settlement.”
Mustafi is not seen as a major player at Arsenal. After all, the German has played just 45 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored.
However, the former Everton man is very experienced, and he would be a good option to have for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for the next few months.
