With the global pandemic ongoing, summer transfers are likely to be difficult. Budgets have been impacted across Europe, so big-money moves are unlikely.
Teams may have to settle for free agents, loans and even swap deals, reducing the outlay clubs need to contribute when signing new players.
Arsenal are one team who may be hit hard by the pandemic, and Mikel Arteta’s side are being linked with a number of swap deals ahead of the summer window.
One potential outgoing is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The winger has spent the majority of the season on loan at Roma, having slipped down the Arsenal pecking order.
The 31-year-old has hit six goals and three assists in just 13 Serie A games this season, proving his quality to Paulo Fonseca and co.
Roma won’t want to pay up though, and Calciomercato claim that a swap deal could materialise. Arsenal have allegedly expressed a ‘strong appreciation’ for Justin Kluivert, meaning a swap is a real possibility.

The Dutch wide man, 21, was a top young talent with Ajax. However, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations at Roma, even with nine goals and 10 assists in 62 outings.
Offloading Mkhitaryan for another winger 10 years his junior seems like a strong idea from Arsenal, and a number of fans seem to be impressed with the idea.
Arsenal fans believe that Arteta can get the best out of Kluivert, whilst begging the Gunners to get the deal done because it’s ‘sensible business’ and a ‘really good trade’.
