Newcastle United have enjoyed a busy day, tying up deals to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson and free agent Ryan Fraser.

The Magpies have more deals in the pipeline with Norwich City left back Jamal Lewis on his way to Tyneside, and another link emerged over the weekend.

The Telegraph report that Steve Bruce is interested in bringing a young striker in on loan, with Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster a notable target in recent weeks.

The report adds that Newcastle are also interested in signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah if Mikel Arteta will loan him out.

Nketiah spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds United, but returned to Arsenal after scoring three goals in 18 Championship appearances.

The 21-year-old returned to Arsenal and scored twice in 13 Premier League games under Mikel Arteta, as he received real Premier League opportunities.

With Alexandre Lacazette’s future unclear and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang mostly playing wide under Arteta, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will loan out Nketiah this summer.

Some Arsenal fans feel that it’s better for Nketiah to stay in North London, believing he wouldn’t get the right playing time at Newcastle and that Arsenal ultimately need him.

Others believe that a loan move to Newcastle would be ‘fantastic’ for Nketiah, noting that he needs to be playing regularly this coming season.
