Liverpool ran out comfortable winners against the Gunners this weekend and the centre-back came in for plenty of criticism.

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has had to wait patiently for his chances this season after impressing during the previous campaign, but the former Bolton Wanderers defender got a bashing from supporters after he played his part in a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool this weekend.
The Reds ran out comfortable winners courtesy of goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge, and Arsenal fans were left to wonder why summer signing Sead Kolasinac was named on the substitutes’ bench while his fellow defenders struggled to contain Liverpool’s exciting forward line.

Holding looked like a savvy addition to Arsenal’s defence and at just 21, Holding still has years to improve and ultimately fulfil his potential. However on Sunday’s evidence he may be set for a prolonged spell out of the starting line-up as Gunners boss Arsene Wenger attempts to put things right.
This is not the start Arsenal would have wanted, with two defeats in their first three matches leaving them alarmingly close to the relegation zone.

Of course by the end of the campaign they will be back challenging at the top end of the table, but whether or not they return to the Champions League will depend on their defence as much as their attack.
