Arsenal pulled off a huge win on Wednesday night, beating Premier League champions Liverpool 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners welcomed title-winners Liverpool to North London last night, with few really backing Mikel Arteta’s side to win the game.
Sadio Mane put Liverpool in front as they continued to chase a Premier League points record, but Arsenal took advantage of two mistakes.
Virgil van Dijk’s weak backpass allowed Alexandre Lacazette to sneak in and score, and Alisson then gave the ball way to Lacazette, who picked out Reiss Nelson to finish.
Arsenal managed to withstand pressure in the second half, with Emiliano Martinez pulling off a superb late stop to deny Trent Alexander-Arnold an equaliser.
After Sunday’s North London derby defeat at the hands of Tottenham, this was the sort of win Arsenal needed to pick up spirits again – and defender Rob Holding made a great return to the side.

The defender was left out against Tottenham, but came back with a fine performance against Liverpool’s famed front three.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to react to Holding’s performance, with some branding him ‘immense’ and ‘class’ following such an impressive display.
Others even picked him out as a future Arsenal captain, whilst urging Arteta to start him more regularly.
