Arsenal defeated Chelsea in a penalty shootout to lift the first silverware of the new season.

Arsenal followed up their FA Cup triumph at the end of last season with a win in the Community Shield clash with Chelsea this weekend.

The Gunners fell behind when Victor Moses scored for the Premier League champions, but a late equaliser from summer signing Sead Kolasinac meant Arsenal had the chance to win it on penalties and they took their chance.

Rob Holding of Arsenal celebrates with the trophy following the The FA Community Shield final between Chelsea and Arsenal at Wembley Stadium on August 6, 2017 in London, England.

The Gunners comfortably won on spot-kicks and, while it means little in the grand scheme of things, Arsene Wenger will be happy to see his side see off Chelsea at Wembley twice in a matter of months.

Among the Arsenal players on show was defender Rob Holding, who played on the right of a back-three with Hector Bellerin pushing up next to him, and the former Bolton Wanderers man continues to prove he has a long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

Holding started last season in the heart of Arsenal’s defence but quickly slipped out of the starting XI when everyone was fit and available.

By the end of the campaign he was back again and it looks like he will feature regularly in the coming months.
