Arsenal suffered a late loss to Watford this weekend.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been in and out of the starting line-up this season and, based on his latest performance, it may be a while before he gets another chance for the Gunners.
The Egypt international kicked off Arsenal’s league game against Watford on Saturday, but Arsene Wenger’s side crashed to a 2-1 defeat courtesy of a 71st-minute penalty from Troy Deeney and an injury-time winner from Tom Cleverley.

Few Arsenal players left the field with their heads held high, with Elneny failing to make his mark alongside the much-maligned Granit Xhaka.
In truth Arsenal lack the strength in depth in the centre of the park to mount a serious title challenge this season, with too many average players getting chances time and again despite failing to fulfil their potential.

Elneny has now featured 49 times for Arsenal but he offers so little that one wonders if the Gunners would not be better off casting him aside and giving someone else a chance, either a younger option or a January signing.
There is still plenty of football to be played but the Gunners are already slipping being the early pace-setters and they cannot afford to drop many more points this side of Christmas.
