There’s a lot of talk about Arsenal and their centre-backs these days.
David Luiz is linked with a move away from North London after only a year at the club; Mikel Arteta wants loanee Pablo Mari to sign on a permanent basis, and 19-year-old William Saliba, a £27 million signing last summer, will finally arrive at the Emirates.
But there hasn’t been much talk about Konstantinos Mavropanos, another centre-back who’s been going about his business quietly while on loan in Germany.
The 22-year-old, who joined Arsenal two-and-a-half years ago now, signed for FC Nurnberg in January and with with German football being back, Mavropanos is also back.
The towering Greek has started three games for his loan club over the past nine days, but his latest effort ended in being subbed at half-time due to injury.
Mavropanos was removed midway through Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Bochum.
And some Arsenal fans fear for his future in North London if he can’t conquer his injury woes.
