Arsenal continue to be linked with a move to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar – and they may have just received a major boost.
The Gunners are in the market for a playmaking midfielder, and Aouar has been their top target in recent months.
RMC Sport claim that Arsenal have offered €36million (£33million), and were planning to return with a bid of around €38million (£34.7million), which Lyon still didn’t want.
They want closer to €50million (£45.5million) for Aouar, meaning Arsenal need to come up with cash quickly in order to secure his signature.
There appears to be great news today though, as L’Equipe report that Lyon have agreed a €21million (£19million) deal to sign AC Milan playmaker Lucas Paqueta.
Paqueta is a creative midfield player, and would seemingly fit into a midfielder alongside Maxence Caqueret and Bruno Guimaraes – sparking suggestions that Aouar could be on the move.

Arsenal fans have seen the news, and have been taking to Twitter to celebrate, with fans ‘more confident than ever’ that Aouar is heading to London.
Others believe there is no way that Lyon would be signing Paqueta if Aouar wasn’t on his way out, claiming that the final domino has fallen and Aouar will become an Arsenal players soon.
