It’s almost five months to the day since Arsenal announced the signing of Cedric Soares from Southampton on a six month loan deal.
The Portuguese international was viewed as a back up to Hector Bellerin when the Gunners brought him, but sadly, he is yet to play a single minute in any competition due to injuries.
Despite that, Arsenal were pretty happy to sign him permanently on a long-term deal which confused a number of people.
Cedric will want to prove to all the people that Arsenal made the right decision regarding his contract and it seems like he might finally get his chance to do so this week.
Arsenal revealed their team news on their official website ahead of their home game against Norwich City. Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil were being assessed ahead of the game but the big boost was the confirmation of Cedric’s availability for selection.
The Southampton man will officially be a permanent Arsenal player tomorrow and to make his debut on the same day will definitely be a special moment for him.
However, it will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta uses him against Norwich tomorrow. Hector Bellerin has been the first-choice while Ainsley Maitland-Niles was one of the best players on the pitch at right-back against Sheffield United on Sunday.
Cedric will certainly give Arteta a headache in terms of team selection and that is always a good thing for any manager to have.
