Arsenal overcame the Black Cats to keep their top four hopes alive.

Arsenal defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Tuesday evening, with the resurgent Alexis Sanchez netting a brace, and the result ensures the Gunners head into the final weekend of the campaign with hopes of finishing in the top four.
Champions League qualification looked nigh on impossible just a few short weeks ago. However a good run of form means Arsene Wenger’s side have a slim chance of making it, although they are relying on a slip-up from Liverpool or a capitulation from Manchester City.
Kieran Gibbs was recalled to Arsenal’s starting line-up after spending the previous match against Stoke City on the bench, but it is fair to say he did not have the same kind of impact as his teammate Nacho Monreal did against the Potters.
Gibbs has played 22 matches for Arsenal this season, including 11 in the league, and there is no telling how long he will be prepared to play second fiddle, especially with the Gunners expected to considerably strengthen this summer.

The 27-year-old still has plenty to offer the right club, but only time will tell if that club is Arsenal.
