Arsenal had to ride their luck this evening as they claimed a 0-0 draw away at Leeds United, having played with 10 men for most of the second half.

The Gunners were under pressure for much of the game, and Mikel Arteta threw on Reiss Nelson for Willian at the break in search of a change as Leeds went close on a number of occasions.

Nicolas Pepe then saw red for headbutting Leeds ace Ezgjan Alioski, and Arsenal had to hang on with Leeds hitting the woodwork three times in the second half.

In the end, Arsenal did get their point and a clean sheet, which Arteta will no doubt be delighted with having been a man down for 40 minutes.

There were a number of fine performances in the Arsenal defence, and summer signing Gabriel stood strong in the heart of the back line.

The Brazilian, landed from Lille over the summer, racked up six clearances, one interception, one aerial duel won and one shot blocked in a strong performance.

Arsenal fans took to Twitter to hail the 22-year-old, with some branding him ‘world class’ for his display at Elland Road.

Others branded him ‘solid’ and ‘a master of his craft’, even predicting that some Premier League rivals will end up wanting to sign him.
