Arsenal fans have generally praised Gabriel Martinelli’s display against AFC Wimbledon yesterday.
Martinelli made his long awaited return to action in the EFL Trophy last night, as his side took on League One opponents.
Arsenal’s Brazilian striker played 45 minutes for the under-21’s as he looks to get his fitness back.
Arsenal actually lost 3-0 in the contest, but when Martinelli was withdrawn the score was locked at 0-0.
And many Gunners supporters thought that Martinelli did well enough, considering how long he has spent on the sidelines.
There is a real hope that Martinelli can return and transform Arsenal’s attack.
He had one real opportunity last night, but could not find the back of the net, when relatively well placed.
When he has his sharpness back, there is an expectation that he could well force his way into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up, though.
Arsenal have badly struggled for goals this season, but Martinelli looked like a natural finisher last term, and there could be an opening up top for him when he back up to speed.
