Many expect Arsenal to move for a new playmaker in January, but The Sun claim there’s now a defender he wants to bring in.
They report that Arteta wants a reunion with Manchester City centre back Eric Garcia, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Garcia, 19, is widely expected to re-join Barcelona, but Arteta now wants to offer him the chance to head to North London in January.
The teenager has shown potential in limited games for City, whilst also becoming a full Spanish international with four caps to his name.
Still, Arsenal fans seem completely baffled, as they would simply rather see Arteta use his own young and talented centre back in William Saliba.
Others simply don’t think that Garcia is good enough, and think the focus has to be on either developing Saliba or signing Ibrahima Konate instead.
