Mikel Arteta couldn’t get one over on his former mentor Pep Guardiola as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners were behind early as Raheem Sterling somehow headed home a Riyad Mahrez cross inside the first two minutes.

City barely needed to break sweat as they coasted through the game, picking up a second 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League this season.

After a strong run of form, Arsenal have now lost three of the last four and picked up just four points in the last five games, meaning Arteta won’t want to suffer another dismal run.

There wasn’t much for Arsenal fans to shout about in a pretty drab afternoon, but goalkeeper Bernd Leno did come in for praise.

The German stopper only made two saves on Sunday, but his distribution was hailed on Twitter – even called ‘immense’ by one fan.

Supporters praised Leno as ‘class’ and ‘incredible’ for his performance, claiming he is Arsenal’s best player.

Others called him ‘world class’ and believe he deserves appreciation despite a very uninspiring defeat on Sunday afternoon.
