Some Arsenal fans have praised Ben Cottrell on Twitter for his performance for the Under-23 side against their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts this afternoon.
Cottrell was in action for the Arsenal Under-23 side against their Tottenham counterparts in Premier League 2 today.
The teenager started the match and scored after 17 minutes. The Gunners took a free kick quickly, and the 19-year-old central midfielder fired the ball in from inside the Tottenham penalty box.
The English youngster has yet to make his debut for the Arsenal senior team, but the midfielder has trained with manger Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have shown that if the academy graduates are good enough, then they will get their chances in the first team.
It remains to be seen when Cottrell gets his chance, but the teenager is doing well at youth level.
If Cottrell continues to work hard and score the kind of goals that he did against the Tottenham Under-23 side today, then it is only a matter of time before he makes his first-team debut for the Arsenal senior team.
Some Arsenal fans were impressed by the display produced by Cottrell this afternoon, as shown below.
