Arsenal may be in the market for a new playmaker this summer, and an intriguing name was linked on Tuesday evening.
Bringing in a long-term successor to Mesut Ozil should be a priority, even with Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock coming through the ranks.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal want Manchester United’s Angel Gomes. The 19-year-old is out of contract this summer, and now looks set to leave the Red Devils.
Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are interested too. United may prefer that he goes to an English team; they would be entitled to much more compensation than if he went abroad.
The teenager has been with United since he was six, but has found first-team football hard to come by. Now, he’s set to move on in search of playing time elsewhere.
Arsenal may be appealing, as that would allow Gomes return to London, where he was born. With Ozil into his 30’s too, Gomes should see a path to first-team football with the Gunners.

However, Arsenal fans don’t seem too impressed. Some took to Twitter to suggest that Gomes is too lightweight and simply not at Premier League level.
Others think Arsenal already have better youngsters, and are urging the club not to make a move – especially as compensation wouldn’t be cheap.
