The former Arsenal man struggled in Manchester United’s shock defeat at Newcastle United.

Former Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez had an afternoon to forget at Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Chilean star was unable to inspire his new side Manchester United as Jose Mourinho’s troops went down 1-0 away to the Magpies, with a second-half Matt Ritchie strike doing the damage.
Prior to Ritchie’s winner, the former Arsenal star could and should have opened the scoring.

Sanchez latched on to a defence-splitting pass from Romelu Lukaku but, despite taking the ball around Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka, the 29-year-old hesitated before pulling the trigger and that allowed Florian Lejeune the time to block his eventual shot.
It can only go down as a big miss from Sanchez, and fans of the North London club, who cheered on the South American for three and a half years, have mocked the error on Twitter.

In addition to that incident, the former Barcelona star was also pretty hit and miss in the creativity stakes and a lot of his attempted passes were snuffed out by Newcastle.
Sanchez has the talent to be a big hit at Old Trafford in the long run, but it’s been a lukewarm start to life with the Red Devils and that miss will do nothing to make him feel more at home.
