Arsenal and Preston North End went head-to-head this weekend.
Arsenal left it late to overcome Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with France international Olivier Giroud netting the winner with just seconds remaining on the clock.
The Championship side had held their own against a much-changed Gunners team but it was Arsene Wenger’s side that ultimately went through as victors, ensuring Preston did not get another chance at the Emirates Stadium later this month.
Among the changes for Arsenal was the selection of 19-year-old Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who can play in a whole array of positions and was stationed at right-back on Saturday evening.
This was the teenager’s eighth appearance for the Arsenal first-team, and while he looked shaky at the back at times he showed plenty of promise going forward and will be hoping for another chance in round four.
