Arsenal picked up another win on Monday night, beating Newcastle United 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in what proved to be a pretty comfortable win.

The Gunners took the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before Bukayo Saka and another Aubameyang strike sealed the win.

That’s now four Premier League wins in the last five games for Arsenal, and a fourth clean sheet in a row with a corner turned under Arteta.

There was some confusion when the Arsenal lineup was announced though, as fans noticed that Ainsley Maitland-Niles wasn’t even in the squad.

Cedric Soares was given the nod at right back with Hector Bellerin on the bench, so Arteta chose not to even include Maitland-Niles in his squad.

The 23-year-old started against Crystal Palace on Thursday but turned in a disappointing performance, that didn’t exactly prove he’s ready for more playing time.

Arteta has since told Football.London that he thinks Maitland-Niles needs to show how much he wants to be in the Arsenal team, laying down the gauntlet to the homegrown ace.

Some now believe that Maitland-Niles being left out means he is ‘done’ under Arteta and is ‘getting sold’ this month or in the summer.

Others think that Maitland-Niles deserves better, and even urged him to leave the club in order to progress his career rather than being stuck as third-choice right back.
