Arsenal have been linked with an ambitious move for the experienced PSG forward.

The Guardian and the Daily Mirror are among the sources to have reported the news that striker Zlatan Ibrahimović could be an unlikely transfer target for Arsenal this summer.

An extra attacking signing is arguably one of the main transfer deals that Arsene Wenger should be looking at ahead of next season, as he mulls over alternative to his current strike force centred around the likes of Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.

It’s not the first time that Zlatan has had a run-in with the Gunners, with Sky Sports carrying details of a previous incident where he refused to go through a trial for Arsene Wenger, suggesting the Frenchman either wanted to sign him or he didn’t.

There are potential obstacles if reports of Arsenal’s interest are true, with the most obvious being the sheer cost that would be involved in the deal.

The Swedish attacker is likely to be one of the best currently paid players on the books at Paris Saint-Germain and it’s likely that he would expect a similar sort of status if he was to join Arsenal, considering his experience and proven quality.

Whether Wenger would be willing to stretch the boundaries for one player is doubtful, as the Frenchman seems to prefer a more socialist approach when it comes to wages.

There is also the likelihood that another club will be interested in signing him and potentially one that could be prepared to offer a higher fee and a higher wage deal in order to get the deal done.

It will be interesting to see if these rumour gathers pace but with the Gunners well stocked in terms of creative and attacking players, it’s doubtful whether Wenger will take a chance up front.

Here’s what Arsenal fans had to say about the rumour on Twitter.
