The much hyped William Carvalho had a big chance to impress against Chelsea, but did he seize it?
The Portuguese international was in action for Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League against Chelsea, unable to prevent a 1-0 defeat.
Carvalho has been linked to several Premier League sides in recent months, with Arsenal among them.
Arsenal are in need of a defensive midfielder, but Carvalho’s £37 million release clause has so far prevented the club from doing a deal.
Carvalho did not have the sort of game last night, which will necessarily have convinced Arsene Wenger to sanction his signing.
