Arsenal defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday, but what did Gunners fans make of Danny Welbeck’s performance?
Arsenal secured a much-needed 2-0 victory away to Sunderland this weekend to ensure the Gunners kept in touch with the sides in the top four. Alexis Sanchez scored both goals but his fellow summer signing Danny Welbeck was not as fortunate.
Fans had mixed feelings towards the England international’s showing against the Black Cats with some praising his all-round contribution and others bemoaning his lack of a killer instinct in front of goal.
Welbeck did not score nor did he provide an assist, but the former Manchester United man did play four key passes at the Stadium of Light. The Arsenal player also had two goal-scoring attempts, although neither found the target.
| Goals | Goal Assist | Key Passes | Total Scoring Attempts | On-target Scoring Attempts | Dribbles | Pass Accuracy | Mins | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Danny Welbeck | 0 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 88.1% | 90 |
Welbeck went on just one dribble, which is poor by his standards, and he had a passing accuracy of 88.1 per cent.
In the end the forward’s individual performance did not matter as Arsenal secured the victory and he did fire in a late cross that could so easily have been converted by an unmarked Santi Cazorla just six yards out.
But after the game we took to Twitter to see what fans thought of Welbeck’s performance and below you can read a selection of what we found:
