Arsenal teenager Jeff Reine-Adelaide was picked for a rare first team chance against Sutton United but did not seize his opportunity to impress.

The 19-year-old featured in place of the rested Mesut Ozil, and was making his seventh appearance for the Gunners.

He is a player Arsene Wenger rates highly, but in his competitive showings he is yet to sparkle like he did more than two years ago on his debut in a pre-season win over Lyon.

Arsenal won the cup tie 2-0, avoiding a humiliating upset, with Reine-Adelaide substituted off midway through the second half.

Wenger’s loyalty could see Reine-Adelaide given another chance for the FA Cup quarter final at home to non-league Lincoln City, but on the basis of this showing he does not really deserve it.

The Arsenal boss had an unerring talent for identifying and buying top prospects from French football early in his North London tenure, but not so much of late.

Reine-Adelaide blossoming would change that and still can, fans however will take some convincing.

Here is a look at the reaction to the teenager’s performance…
