Arsenal have announced the signing of Granit Xhaka, with the Swiss midfielder becoming their first summer signing.
The tough tackling midfielder is exactly the type of player their team has lacked in recent years, and replaces Mikel Arteta whose contract expires this summer.
Bayern Munich v Borussia Moenchengladbach – German Bundesliga
Xhaka has been a regular for Switzerland at international level and featured at the 2014 World Cup.
He was also part of a Basel side as a teenager which knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League.
Last season he was a key player for Borussia Moenchengladbach as he helped the German side clinch a top four place in the Bundesliga, displaying form which led to Arsenal’s decision to spend big to secure his signature.

Officially the fee was undisclosed, The BBC report, with Xhaka signed on a ‘long-term deal’.
Further positions in which Arsenal require strengthening this summer include an additional centre-back and a new striker, but Xhaka’s signing is a superb start for manager Arsene Wenger.
