Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 2-1 on Saturday but what did Gunners fans think of Francis Coquelin’s contribution?
Arsenal continued their brilliant run of form when they defeated Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Olivier Giroud scored both the Gunners’ goals with Moussa Sissoko pulling one back for the Magpies, but it was ultimately to prove a mere consolation.
Arsenal are pushing hard for a top-four finish and with every fresh victory they get closer to that aim, but they could yet finish even higher, certainly if they maintain their current form until the end of the season.
The form of Francis Coquelin has been one of the key reasons for Arsenal’s run and the French midfielder was again in action this weekend.
| Passing Accuracy | Tackles Won | Effective Clearances | Interceptions Won | Duels Won | Aerials Won | Dispossessed | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Francis Coquelin | 82% | 6 | 4 | 4 | 10 | 2 | 2 | 90 |
As you can see from the statistics above, the 23-year-old had a passing accuracy of 82 per cent while he also won six tackles, 10 duels and two aerial battles.
In a hard-fought match he played his part and it was also impressive that he was dispossessed only twice all afternoon.
