Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers had been linked with replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League last night in the qualifying stages.
Celtic lost 3-2 on aggregate to AEK Athens, losing the second leg 2-1 in Greece.
While Celtic now drop into Europa League qualifying, being eliminated from the Champions League before reaching the group stages is a stain on Rodgers’ CV,
He has conquered the Scottish Premiership, winning back to back trebles and overseeing an incredible unbeaten season in 2016/17.

In Europe it has been a different matter, with Celtic winning one of 12 Champions League group games in two years. This year they have not even reached that stage.
Rodgers himself was linked with a Celtic exit in the summer, to potentially take over the Arsenal job.

The Scottish Sun reported at one stage Rodgers was bookies favourite to replace Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal chose former PSG and Sevilla boss Unai Emery instead, who led the French side to a 7-1 win over Rodgers’ Celtic last season.
Rodgers’ hopes of a top job at an English club were not helped by last night’s result, and Arsenal fans are feeling like they had a lucky escape…
