Sky Germany claim that Arsenal are among two other clubs interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter this summer.
The German international, a World Cup winner, has entered the final year of his contract and it is no surprise that there are top clubs interested in his services for next season.
Italian giants Inter Milan and Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are said to be battling the Gunners for his signature and, considering how things are, Arsenal are the least likely side to land him this summer.
The Gunners are yet to qualify for the Europa League. They will only do so if they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final this weekend and, based on recent form, it will not be an easy challenge.
Arsenal are also struggling financially, very much unlike Chelsea and Inter Milan. The Gunners need European football to be able to spend good money in this transfer window and that uncertainty could cost them a few of their targets.
However, if things do work out their way, Ginter would be a very smart addition to the squad. The German, still only 26, has a lot of experience under his belt for club and country.

Ginter was a part of the same Germany squad that won the World Cup as Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker, who could all play a part in bringing him to the Emirates this summer.
It will be Ginter’s decision at the end of the day. Both Chelsea and Inter Milan can offer him Champions League football next season; something that Arsenal are a long way off.
Arsenal fans would, however, like to see him at the Emirates next summer. Here is how a few of them reacted on Twitter:
