One of Arsenal’s most technically gifted players over the last decade was Santi Cazorla. The little Spaniard instantly became a fan favourite when he joined the club back in 2012, and he is adored at the Emirates even to this day.

Cazorla spent six years at Arsenal, playing 180 times, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shields in that period. The midfield magician spent most of his final days on the sidelines with a heartbreaking injury.

The Spaniard was even told that he might not be able to play again which ended his Arsenal career. Cazorla joined Villareal in 2018 and recovered completely before becoming a hero there.

The former Arsenal man had one of his best-ever campaigns this season. Cazorla scored 15 goals and assisted 11 times, and he was given a fitting farewell at the end of the Spanish top-flight season.

His contract with the Yellow Submarine is now over and he is a free agent. Arsenal took to Twitter to wish him well for the future, and Gunners supporters bombarded the message with pleas to bring him back to the Emirates this summer.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta knows Cazorla very well. The duo spent a lot of time together, both on and off the pitch, and the little magician was even tipped to make a return to Arsenal as a part of his compatriot’s backroom staff.

Whether that happens remains to be seen considering that Cazorla is yet to announce his retirement. Arsenal fans, as unlikely as it is, would love to have him back at the Emirates in some capacity this summer.

Here’s how a few Gunners supporters reacted on Twitter.
