Arsenal are having a turbulent time at the moment, and it may well lead to new signings in 2020, whether that be in January or next summer.

The Gunners may need some midfield reinforcements, especially with Granit Xhaka’s role with the club under threat after his incident with the club’s fans on Sunday.

Lucas Torreira is struggling for playing time and Dani Ceballos is only on loan, meaning midfielders are being linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.

The newest name in the frame is Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria, who has been impressing for the Bundesliga club so far this season.

The Swiss powerhouse, 22, is really starting to fulfil his potential under Marco Rose, and Sky Germany claim Arsenal have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race for Zakaria’s signature.

Zakaria isn’t much of a playmaker, but he’s powerful, quick, good on the ball and effective at breaking up play, meaning he could do an all-round job in front of Arsenal’s defence.

A €50million (£43million) bid would reportedly be needed to sign Zakaria, which is a considerable amount of money, but fans have other ideas.

A number of supporters took to Twitter to suggest that Arsenal should swap Xhaka for Zakaria, sending Xhaka back to Gladbach having left them for the Gunners in 2016, though some are worried about signing another Swiss international from Gladbach after Xhaka’s issues.

Others are split on Zakaria’s ability anyway, with some feeling that he isn’t good enough for Arsenal and they should be looking higher, with others believing he’s a very talented, promising midfielder.
