Arsenal warmed up for their Premier League return with a 6-0 demolition on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s side ruthlessly dismantled Charlton Athletic at the Emirates Stadium yesterday in preparation for their return to competitive action against Manchester City on June 17.

Eddie Nketiah took most of the post-match plaudits after grabbing himself a hat-trick, but some Arsenal fans were talking about another youngster after the game.

Joe Willock was the player who made it six in the second half, brilliantly curling home from outside the box with a first-time finish into the top corner.

Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the goal on Twitter:

Interestingly, Arteta doesn’t seem to rate Willock all that highly.

Since the Spaniard took over from Unai Emery in December, Arsenal have had 15 games in all competitions and Willock has started just three of them – and hasn’t made any Premier League first XIs.

That’s unlikely to change from now until the end of this season, but a good pre-season for the 2020-21 campaign and who knows, maybe he can stay in and around the senior side after getting a taste of the big time while Emery was in charge.
