Emile Smith Rowe is Arsenal through and through – and he proved as much at London Colney on Thursday afternoon.
Hours before Josh Kroenke addressed an Arsenal fans’ forum amid supporter unrest due to the Gunners’ attempt to break away from UEFA to compete in a European Super League, Mikel Arteta put his side through their paces ahead of tonight’s visit of Everton in the Premier League.
And one of the most striking parts of Arteta’s training session was a gesture from Smith Rowe that meant quite a lot to fans of the North London club, the week that’s been in it.
The 21-year-old, who came through Arsenal’s academy to emerge as a real first-team star this season, looked at the camera and patted the club badge in a moment which illustrated his affection for the Gunners.
And here’s how some fans of the Emirates Stadium club reacted to that moment on Twitter:
Kroenke confirmed that his father, Stan Kroenke, had no intention of selling Arsenal in a revelation that didn’t please supporters, who are due to protest outside the stadium today.
But so long as there’s players like Smith Rowe at the club, players who genuinely care about the badge, that’s vitally important too.
