Troy Deeney has claimed that ‘Arsenal fans love me’, as he shared a story about why he once poured an energy drink over his stomach at the Emirates Stadium, as he told A League of their Own on Sky.

The former Premier League striker shared that, during one game in North London, he was getting stick from the Arsenal fans, with some chanting ‘Oi, you fat p****k’, as he went to take a drink on the sidelines.

The 33-year-old then proceeded to lift up his Watford top, showcasing his stomach and started pouring the drink over it.

Deeney explained what happened during that moment and how he was trying to show that he wasn’t indeed fat in a humorous manner.

“That’s a Gatorade,” said Deeney. “As you may have known, Arsenal fans love me and that was at the Emirates.

“I went to get a drink and somebody shouted ‘oi, you fat p***k’, so I picked up their keepers drink and decided to tip it down (my stomach).

“There are about six friends of mine (talking about his six-pack) that have come out to say hello.”

Deeney has history with the Arsenal supporters that has resulted in him not becoming a bit of a Villain with their fanbase.

Back in 2017, when Watford beat Arsenal at Vicarage Road, Deeney laid into the opposition by claiming that they have ‘no cojones’ and are seemingly easy to play against (Mirror).

They were comments that Arsenal fans were quick to remind him of every time they locked horns with Watford.

And, two seasons ago, beat them on the last day of the campaign, which sent them down to the Championship.
