Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger announced his decision to stand down as manager at the end of the season late last week.

The Frenchman had long been a divisive figure at the club, but news of his resignation prompted countless heartfelt tributes from past and current players.

One of them, from defender Calum Chambers, was treated particularly harshly by supporters.

Chambers signed for Arsenal in 2014 and has struggled to progress to become a first team regular for the North London side.

The 23-year-old has made only eight Premier League starts this season, and was on the bench at the weekend against West Ham.

Chambers probably was not looking for responses with his message, and for his sake we hope he did not read over them.

The former Southampton prospect was inundated with responses telling him his days at Arsenal are numbered now Wenger is leaving.

If he did read them, it will provide more motivation than ever to prove the doubters wrong.
