Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a draw against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, but it didn’t come without a huge slice of controversy.

Spurs were looking to bounce back from a 2-0 away defeat to Chelsea by winning against a different London rival – but they were disappointing again at Wembley Stadium.

Arsenal went ahead in the first half as Alexandre Lacazette found Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey, and he managed to round Hugo Lloris to tap home the opener.

Spurs toiled in search of an equaliser and had Shkodran Mustafi to thank when they got it, as he pushed over Harry Kane for a penalty, with Kane scoring from the spot.

There was late drama though as Davinson Sanchez fouled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for an Arsenal penalty on 90 minutes, but his effort was saved by Lloris.

Aubameyang couldn’t turn home from close range when the ball was put back into the box, but fans weren’t exactly happy with how those events transpired.

Jan Vertonghen made what seemed like a miraculous recovery to block the ball on the line, but replays showed that he was well inside the box even before Aubameyang had struck his penalty – allowing the Belgian to get back and make the block.

Arsenal players did encroach on Kane’s penalty too, it must be added, but Gunners fans were raging after spotting Vertonghen inside the box, blaming The FA for Arsenal being ‘robbed again’, with others calling Vertonghen a cheat.
