Andre Gomes’ outstanding Premier League form at Everton reportedly has Arsenal keen to sign him from Barcelona.

It seems that it will take more than an impressive loan spell at Everton to make the football public forget Andre Gomes’ dismal two-year spell at Barcelona.
The Portugal international has enjoyed a new lease of life at Goodison Park this season, his combination of power and finesse catching the eye at the heart of Marco Silva’s midfield. Gomes is finally starting to look like a top quality midfielder once again.
And, according to ESPN, Arsenal are hoping to hijack Everton’s attempts to sign the former Valencia and Benfica star on a permanent deal with Barca willing to sell this summer for £26 million.

Head coach Unai Emery and director of football Raul Sanllehi are understood to be big fans of a playmaker who outplayed Mesut Ozil and co as Everton deservedly beat Arsenal 1-0 at Goodison Park recently.
But that does not mean he’d be a universally popular addition at The Emirates. Arsenal fans appear to have overlooked just how brilliant Gomes was against The Gunners just a few weeks ago, instead claiming that he simply isn’t good enough for a club who remain a long, long way behind Manchester City and Liverpool.
Harsh? Yes. But it just goes to show how one failed move to a European giant can leave an indelible mark on your reputation.
