Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Folarin Balogun could leave.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal striker Balogun is close to agreeing a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.
The report from The Athletic’s football correspondent David Ornstein and Gunnerblog’s James McNicholas has claimed that the young striker has failed to agree a contract extension and will leave the North London club at the end of the season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that although the 19-year-old wants to stay, his agent has other ideas, as quoted in The Athletic.
The 19-year-old has been at the Gunners since 2008 and is starting to make inroads in the first team.
According to WhoScored, the striker has scored two goals and provided one assist in 61 minutes in the Europa League so far this season.
With the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in the pecking order, it is going to be hard for the teenager to get much playing time in the coming months.
Some Arsenal fans on Twitter have given their take on the situation of Balogun, and below are some of the best comments:
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arteta has raved about defender Rob Holding.
Arteta told The Mirror about Holding: “It is what I see on a daily basis with him, and the room that he still has for improvement, his age. I really like what I see. He has earned that right himself.
“It is true there have been many other conditions for him to play that many minutes because we have injuries, we have other issues, but he has earned that right. Nobody can question that when he has played, he has performed really well.”
