Arsenal fans have offered some advice to Arsene Wenger over the future of the holding midfield position in his team.

Arsene Wenger has some big decisions to make at Arsenal over the course of the summer, as he looks to get the Gunners into a position where they can put some real pressure on Chelsea at the start of the next season.

One of the positions that he may be thinking about adding a player, is at holding midfielder.

He already has a very talented option there in the form of Francis Coquelin, who he has praised frequently since the Frenchman returned to the club from a loan spell at Charlton in the Championship last year.

However, that hasn’t stopped the North Londoners from being linked with some very good targets in that position.

The Independent has reported that two of the names Wenger could be considering moves for are Geoffrey Kondogbia of Monaco and Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton.

If Wenger wants to challenge Coquelin and sign either of them, it’s going to be a difficult choice because they each have their merits and represent players who can take Arsenal’s squad forward.

Kondogbia showed in the games against Arsenal in the Champions League how talented and authoritative he can be in a holding midfield position.

He’s tall, quick, has great touch and is well suited to the general style of play that Wenger likes to deploy.

Schneiderlin has the obvious edge in terms of Premier League experience. He’s not going to come cheap, as there will be other teams in the market for him, but Arsenal will be a very appealing proposition for the Frenchman who is eager to play Champions League football.

Coquelin has a very good chance of starting as first choice in his position for next season, but Wenger needs to challenge him and keep him on his toes.

Here’s what Arsenal fans on Twitter want the boss to do.
